I’ve lost track of the amount of times I’ve made this smoothie. It is such a simple mixture that seems to please everybody. It’s easy to add to any breakfast meal and is a good base for any other additions like acai, hemp protein or maca. Taking only 5 minutes to whip together, I’d say it’s a winner in my heart. This smoothie is also very easy to hide spinach in (shh…don’t tell anybody) due to the vibrant purple colour of the blueberries. We like to pair this smoothie with a side of scrambled eggs with turmeric, quinoa and sautéed spinach. This smoothie is also a great recipe for people who are smoothie-newbies and who want to start eating a little healthier; it will be just sweet enough for them but also nutrient dense. With over 20g of protein in each serving, this smoothie is also perfect for a post workout shake. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it! X
Thank you to the beautiful Christine from Christine Pienaar Photography for the photograph of this Protein-Packed Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie (another photo from our lovely colab last year).
Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/4 of an avocado
- 1 cup of almond or coconut milk
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- Pinch of cinnamon
Method
- Blend all ingredients in your high speed blender until creamy.
- If making ahead of time, leave out the chia seeds as they will make the smoothie clump together. You can use hemp seeds as an alternative.
