I am the green smoothie’s biggest fan. They are such a great way to pack in some extra greens and carb up for the day. In the summer, I drink smoothies at least twice a day, sometimes even thrice. Because they are just so delicious and creamy and make my body buzz with energy! This smoothie in particular is extra creamy from the frozen bananas and particular sweet from the mango. The kale adds an awesome nutrient punch and the cinnamon sort of ties it all together.
I think you will all really enjoy this smoothie. It’s younger sibling-approved, 19-year old brother approved and totally delicious. It’s very easy to store these ingredients. I like to buy large batches of bananas, let them ripen, peel and then freeze them in zip-lock baggies. The mango is, of course, a seasonal thing. However, you can find frozen mango in the frozen section of basically any grocery store. The creaminess of a ripe mango is much more fresh, though. Kale is another thing you can find seasonally, especially in winter. In Vancouver, I grew kale in my garden. I would take it all home, wash it in vinegar to get rid of all the little buggies and then freeze it for the following weeks. The walnuts are some super brain-food/healthy fats for your body, which is really important. You’ve got a wide range of nutrients in this smoothie: tons of Vitamin C, calcium, Vitamin E, Omega 3’s and fiber. In conclusion, you should probably go make this smoothie, like right now. I hope you enjoy it as I enjoyed making it! X
